We’ve been plotting behind the scenes to make our participation at this year’s Brooklyn Book Festival this Sunday as WORD-y as possible, and we do believe we have succeeded.

First, there’s our Bookend event with Craig Thompson (author of cult classic Blankets) on Saturday, September 17, at 8 p.m. for his new graphic novel Habibi, which will involve falafel, drinks, dessert, and Sarah Glidden — full details and ticket purchase here.

Then, at the Festival on Sunday, September 18, we’ll be selling the books related to the North Stage panels, as well as some of our staff picks. Rather than trying to bring the entire bookstore down to Borough Hall, we’ve chosen a selection of titles that we think everyone should read. Some of the categories are listed above, feel free to guess — incredible graphic design by Mike Fusco of M+E. We’re also bringing a little taste of Greenpoint with us, in the form of Peter Pan donut holes, so come by early!

AND THEN ALSO, we invited four of the festival authors to join us in recommending a book they love. We’re pleased to announce the following line-up:

11:30 a.m.: Emma Straub (Other People We Married, Fly-Over State)
12:30 p.m.: Haley Tanner (Vaclav & Lena)
1:30 p.m.: Simon VanBooy (Everything Beautiful Began After, Love Begins in Winter)
4 p.m.: Peter Brown (You Will Be My Friend, The Curious Garden, Children Make Terrible Pets)

See you there?
